In general, Yes, binge eating disorder is associated with depression and mental illness. Though the exact cause is unknown, it is believed that a combination of psychological, biological, and/or environmental abnormalities cause this illness. The eating disorders like Binge Eating Disorder are developed at any stage in life but appear during the teen years or young adulthood.

·         Peer pressure among friends and co-workers.


However, the treatment for eating disorders is not easy but they are treatable. A combination of treatments, consists of cognitive behavioural therapy and antidepressant medicines, is used to help teens overcome bulimia. Cognitivebehavioural therapy assists by recognising and replacing negative thoughts to help alter emotional state and behaviour.

Eating disorder treatment also consists of medical monitoring, nutritional feeding, and psychological treatment. Because of the severity of these conditions, a professional treatment team specializing in eating disorders is required in establishing healing and recovery.
